The Battle of Pennsylvania 10/14/08

This year's first edition of Pens vs. Flyers was a fight to the finish it even required almost an entire overtime period to be decided by a Pascal Dupuis score making the final score 3-2 in favor of the Mighty Penguins. Goals were scored in the game Orpik, Zigomanis, and the overtime goal by Dupuis.

The game itself seemed rather slow to me, I guess I got all excited when God got into a fight 5 minutes into the game. That was about all the excitement until the Pens scored twice in the second period 42 seconds apart, only to give up the lead and allow the Flyers to tie the game in the final minute of the second. The first goal was another one of those deflected in by Hal Gill goals, I know he is just doing his job and a good one at that but that is 2 games in row he deflected one past Flower, and the second goal I didn't see anyway Fleury could have stopped it, it was a nice shot that was deflected in by Gagne. There were some opportunities in the third but nothing was capitalized on by either team. The game winner in OT was a nice slapshot from Dupuis which was assisted with a nice crisp pass down ice by Brooks Orpik in the closing seconds of the first overtime period.
