Once again I missed viewing some of the game however I was able to catch Mike Lange with the call on my way to PrimantI's to watch the game. So we will pick up from when I started actually watching the game which was right around the time Kris Letang put in a juicy rebound to put the Penguins up 1-0 with 8 minutes left in the 1st period. The Flames came back shortly after with a great scoring chance ringing one off the goal post behind Fleury while on the power play. Two minutes after this Fedotenko gets out of the box gets a wide open breakaway that gets gloved down by Kiprusoff. The period would end with a 1-0 lead for the Penguins.

The second period involved some beautiful saves on both ends, but neither team was able to tally a goal in the period. Towards the end of the frame Malkin split the Flames and fired a backhand towards Kiprusoff, only to come away with a double minor high sticking penalty. While on the power play David Moss of the Flames would break out with a forehand shot of his own only to be denied entry to the Flower Shop. The Pens would go on to kill the rest of the period leaving only 44 seconds of power play time for the Flames to carry over to the 3rd period.

The Flames would start the 3rd on the PP but the Pens would kill that without breaking a sweat. After the teams traded shots in the opening minutes of the third Hal Gill picks the pocket of a Flame and shoots a pass onto Geno in the neutral zone, and he returns the favor with a spectacular behind the back pass to Gill to give him the wide open net for his second goal of the year and a 2-0 Penguins lead. The game started to become interesting once the Flames pulled the goalie and no Penguin player could score on the empty net to save his life. Which is pretty emabarrassing but luckily it didn't change the outcome of the game.

GO PENS
