Penguins Can’t Beat the Price

The Penguins came home last night to take on the Montreal Canadiens in hopes of a win and a boost ahead of the Canadiens in the standings. They came out and played an incredible game minus the lack of defense on the 2 of the 3 goals scored by the Canadiens. I was so into this game that I failed to begin to write a recap during the intermissions so I'm going to wing it here and try and give my best effort via memory.

1st Period

The Pens came out ready for a... Shit goal at 1:15 into game 1-0 Habs. After all this talk from Steigy and Errey about how the Pens have the advantage because the Canadiens haven't played in a week. The Penguins bounced back to score a goal of their own 13 minutes later as Pascal Dupuis banks one in off of Price 1-1 tie ball game. So far this has been one of the best first periods of the season for the Penguins, then with time winding down in the frame Plekanec finds Tits in front of the net 2-1 Habs.

2nd Period

The Pens came out to start the 2nd after that deflating goal at the end of the first. It only took 5 minutes for Crosby to show what he does best and buries it and ties it up again at 2-2. This pretty much sums up the rest of the second period as the puck is moved back and fourth by both teams with little else happening. End of the 2nd 2-2.

3rd Period

The Pens came out in the third to continue with the momentum and take over the game, but they forget how to play defense and screen Fleury allowing a 2-on-1 slapper from Tits giving him the hat trick which if we are counting is the second one against the Pens this month. The Penguins regroup and go back to work generating scoring chances like this was game 7 of the finals but Carey Price plays like Fleury the night before and shuts down everything the Pens had. Game over Pens lose 3-2.

The Penguins didn't really lose to the Habs in this one because the game was all Carey Price he kept the Canadiens in the game and won it for them in the third, now on the other side the Pentguins defense shit the bed and allowed some crappy goals from the Habs. For all of you whom are worried about the number of shots the Penguins are taking here is a stat for you the shot count was 34-19 in favor of the Pens.
