Penguins Bunt In A Win

The Penguins went to Buffalo to take on the Sabres and it didn't start off good for then Penguins as the Sabres scored in the first minute of the game. The Pens remained rather flat throughout the first period and began to pick up momentum throughout the game enroute to picking up the win against the Sabres.

1st Period

Only one minute into the period the Sabres got onto the board when a wrister from Daniel Paille gets deflected by Adam Mair into the skate of Philippe Boucher which sends the puck behind Fleury to make it 1-0 Sabres. The Pens almost tied it up 90 seconds later when Petr Gunn ripped one towards the net. Both teams appeared to be a little conservative throughout the first period. The only penalty was an interference call on Brooks Orpik which put the Sabres on the powerplay and of course Versus has no PP clock, Pens kill it and both teams continue to move the puck up and down the ice.

2nd Period

Right off the bat Satan takes a tripping penalty. Pens go on the kill, and kill the penalty after Fleury makes some beautiful saves. The Pens turn it over at the blue line to Ales Kotalik he gets a breakaway as 2 Pens stand there and watch him take it in for the score. Less than a minute later Dupuis rips one towards the net and scores to make it 2-1. Malkin takes a tripping penalty shortly after Sabres go on the powerplay that now 3 penalties for the Pens and a whopping 0 for the Sabres, penalty killed. Interesting stat after this one Buffalo is now 3-36 against the Penguins I missed how many games they said but very interesting. Geno gets triple teamed turns it over, Miller fell on his ass and Letang missed a gimme goal wide. The Sabres try and triple team Malkin again he gets a pass off to Goligoski who puts one in the basket tie ball game 2-2. Things start to get heated Godard takes a minor and says what the hell if I'm going to the box let's make it worth it tries to fight Andrew Peters who turns into a bitch and hugs God so he can't throw any punches, God falls fight over if you want to call that a fight, both goto the sin bin for fighting and Godard picks up a boarding penalty as well. Sabres on the powerplay AGAIN, and this time Buffalo capitalizes on the man advantage as Clarke MacArthur forehands one in Fleury had no chance on it 3-2 Sabres. End of the second

3rd Period

I didn't pay much attention to the begining of the third period I picked it up when the Pens went on the first powerplay for them of the night and less than a minute in Goligoski capitalizes on a pass from Malkin to make it tie game again 3-3. The Pens look as if they are gaining the momentum and Boucher takes a high-sticking penalty and goes to the box and sets up Buffalo on the PP for the billionth time tonight. As the third period progressed the Penguins gained more and more momentum and made some very good attempts at taking the game before sending the game into extra innings. Game tied 3-3

3rd Period

Right away the Penguins goto work, 43 seconds in it appears as if Geno slaps a knuckler from the outside and scores, goal goes under review. After review Crosby is credited with the goal after almost bunting the knuckler from Malkin into the net.
