Penguins AT Devils

The Penguins went into New Jersey after a little 2 day vacation for the Christmas holiday looking for a win to help right the ship. And righ the ship they did there was not much offense to be had in this game, but the Penguins played some spectacular defense and it all started with the play of Marc-Andre Fleury in the crease stopping every shot the Devils through his way.

Marc-Andre Fleury

1st Period

The Pens dominated the offensive zone for the better part of the third period, but came up short on goals. Flower was equally impressive as he was a brick wall allowing nothing to get by on the several quality scoring chances the Devils had when they gained the offensive zone. Penguins went on the powerplay and did nothing didn't even register a PP shot. End of the 1st 0-0.

2nd Period

The 2nd began the same way the 1st ended mostly dominated by the Pens. Scoring for the night opened up at the 12:51 mark when Malkin fed Fedotenko in front of the net to make it 1-0 Pens. Shortly after the goal Whitney took a hooking penalty, Devils on the powerplay Fleury plays out of this world robs the Devils of every chance, Jersey almost got on the board towards the end of the man advantage but Mark Eaton kicks the puck out of the crease no goal still 1-0 Penguins. With a minute left Fleury takes tripping penalty Cookie serves it. End of the 2nd 1-0 Da 'Guins.

3rd Period

The 3rd period started off with the Devils on the powerplay, but MAF continued to play out of this world stopping shots from every angle shutting down the Devils no matter what the man advantage was for New Jersey. The Pens hold on 1-0 and MAF gets his first shutout of the year.
